After Paris-Roubaix I gave myself a little break. One week on holiday with my family and a few MTB-tours with dedicated cyclists in Club Martinhal in Sagres were important for the leached head and body.
Then I started training again. Or rather, I trained three times and went directly to the Tour of Turkey. I am very satisfied with my two stage wins. Additionaly once second, once third and the sprint jersey. I am still far away of my top form, but the tour was very important, especially in view to the Tour de France.
Marcel Kittel was really strong in Turkey and has not won three stages only by chance. Congratulations at this point to Marcel.
The overall winner has certainly raised some doubts (not just to me). Last year, even Mustafa Sayar had become Antepenultimate with 1 hour and 41 minutes behind the overall winner and this year he was like a completely different rider and won the race. We saw a very strong Turkish team as well...
I really don't want to draw any hasty conclusions, but I wish and hope fervently that everything was done properly. Another positive Test would be the last thing that could use the Tour of Turkey - especially since the race is becoming more professional from year to year and is very well organized.
By the way: On Wednesday I'll start with my Lotto team in Frankfurt and on May, 12th in Cologne. Let's get ready to rumble ...
